Cloud-based digital signatures, or 'remote signatures,' are a new generation of digital signatures that work across desktop, mobile, and the web — and meet the highest levels of compliance and assurance for signer authentication. Each signer is issued a certificate-based digital ID by a Trust Service Provider (TSP). When signing a document, the ID is used with a personal PIN and other verification steps to prove the signer's identity. Read the solution brief.
A digital ID is like an electronic driver’s license or passport that proves your identity. A digital ID usually contains your name and email address, the name of the organization that issued it, a serial number, and an expiration date. Digital IDs are used for certificate security and digital signatures. May 31, 2011 Step 1: Create a Digital ID. In order to sign a PDF, you need to have a digital ID. If you don’t have one, Acrobat can create a “self-signed” ID for you that is stored on your machine (typically) forever, allowing you to use it any time you need to sign a PDF.
Follow these steps to get your cloud-based digital ID.
- Choose a trust service provider below.
- Enroll per the provider’s instructions to get your ID.
- Restart the signing process and select your new credential to sign the document.
